Lecture: Religious Nationalist Violence & Democracy, Moyukh Chatterjee, April 22 at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØDenver
Lecture by Dr. Moyukh Chatterjee (University of Edinburgh, Social Anthropology) to take place on April 22 at 5:00 PM in SCB 1500 at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØDenver. Dr. Chatterjee will discuss his recently published book, Composing Violence: The Limits of Exposure and the Making of Minorities (Duke UP, 2023), which focuses on the ways that democratic governance has been radically reshaped in India as a result of Hindu nationalist mob violence. As both India and the US will hold general elections this year in which religious nationalism and the threat or enactment of violence figures to play a key role, I hope that you can convince your students, friends, and colleagues to attend. There will be a reception to follow the talk.
