The Graduate Education & Training in Southeast Asia Studies (GETSEA) consortium is accepting applications from current graduate students enrolled in universities around the world to join the GETSEA Grad Student Council. Members meet several times per year, in addition to email correspondence, to discuss GETSEA Steering Committee and Sub-Committee initiatives/ideas/plans/etc. and provide student-led guidance and advice to those committees. Additionally, members of the Grad Student Council may join GETSEA Sub-Committees (there are various committees on topics such as Mini-Courses, Language Exchange, Communications & Infobanks, Professional Development, and more!), attend Sub-Committee meetings, and participate in the planning and execution of committee initiatives. Members of the Grad Student Council also lead a variety of their own events and initiatives throughout the academic year based on the current need of graduate students around the globe.

The GETSEA Graduate Student Council has traditionally been formed by students of the eight National Resource Centers (NRCs) for Southeast Asia Studies in the United States. However, this year, GETSEA is piloting the addition of non-NRC students to the GETSEA Graduate Student Council. By opening the ranks to graduate students around the world, GETSEA hopes to further broaden its goals of unification and strategic collaboration across the breadth of the Southeast Asia Studies community.

This opportunity to network, collaborate, learn, and grow is open to any students focusing on Southeast Asia that are currently enrolled in a university graduate program. The term of commitment is for one year (2024-25 AY) with the possibility, at the discretion of both parties, to reenroll thereafter.

To apply to be a member of the GETSEA Graduate Student Council, please fill out the application form atÌý.

Application Deadline: August 31, 2024.
