Kyri Baker, associate professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, and her colleague, Bri-Mathias Hodge, professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering, suggest that if future data centers are placed in the right location and equipped with energy storage technologies, they can run on 100 percent clean energy.

Kyri Baker, Mija Hubler and JH Song were selected for the Deloitte/Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ Climate Innovation Collaboratory Research Awards for translating climate research and data into meaningful climate solutions for businesses, organizations, government agencies and communities.

Kyri Baker, an associate professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, emphasizes the need for grid upgrades to maintain reliability amidst extreme weather.

Assistant Professor Kyri Baker received the Provost Faculty Achievement Award. This university-wide award recognizes the work and promise of pre-tenured faculty.

"We have areas that are producing too much solar or too much wind at certain points, and we just don’t have not enough load or demand to use it," said Assistant Professor Kyri Baker. "So if we install more lines to pipe that power where it needs to go, the the grid’s just going to become more efficient."
