Michel Bauwens,Ìýan eminent Belgian peer-to-peer theorist focusing onÌýtechnology, cultureÌýand business innovation, will speak at the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ on April 5. BauwensÌýis director and founder of the , a global organization of researchers focused onÌýpeer production, governanceÌýand property. He has written and lectured extensively on the commons and its economics.
In his talk at CU-Boulder–entitled –BauwensÌýwill discuss the role of media platforms in theÌýtransformation of civic, marketÌýand state forms toward a contribution-based and commons-oriented economy.ÌýHe will argue that new forms and institutions emerging in this process are potential seeds for a successful transition toward a fair, freeÌýand sustainable mode of value creation and distribution.
The talk is open to the public and isÌýsponsoredÌýby the Department of Media Studies in the College of Media, CommunicationÌýand InformationÌýand CU’s Innovative Seed Grant program.

On April 6, Bauwens will meet with cooperative organizations from the Boulder community to discuss his "Chamber of the Commons" concept. The discussion is open to the public andÌýwill includeÌýpresentations from several local organizations, giving the Boulder community aÌýchance to share strategies, challenges and new opportunities for collaboration.
