Mohammed Abualqas describes himself as the son of parents who carved their way through life with sheer determination. He considers his parents his greatest inspiration and aspires to continue their story of perseverance. He works as a teaching assistant at King Khalid University and also has a part-time job as an international press correspondent for the Saudi Press Agency in the United States of America and as an international correspondent for Al Arabiya channel.
Mohammed's journey in journalism began early with a passion for the craft at Al-Watan newspaper in southern Saudi Arabia, a publication known for its unique progressive stance. This newspaper was one of the pioneers in Saudi Arabia to discuss sensitive social issues, such as women's driving rights, long before they became legally permitted under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's leadership. During his time at Al-Watan, Mohammed was responsible for page layout and headlines, as well as conducting reports, investigations, and exclusive interviews. This experience opened doors to roles in media and communications at government institutions, where he earned accolades, including the "Best Journalist Award" and recognition for media excellence on a national level.
Mohammed graduated from the Department of Media and Communication at King Khalid University in southern Saudi Arabia, ranking first in both of his graduating classes. He recently received his master's degree from Texas Tech University.
On the research front, Mohammed has conducted studies addressing critical issues in the Middle East, including the conflict in Gaza, women's rights, oil prices, and the war in Yemen. He also contributed to a book on the COVID-19 experience in the southern plains of the United States, collaborating with a research team under the supervision of Dr. Beasley, former head of the journalism department at Texas Tech University, during his master's studies.
Mohammed hopes to continue his research on Arab perceptions of American media coverage of Middle Eastern issues and to enhance his research skills by taking full advantage of the academic environment at the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ.
