Dave Plati (Jour’82)
Nordic skier Vegard Kjoelhamar, the NCAA champion in the 20K freestyle, was named the 2008-09 male Collegiate Skier of the Year by FasterSkier.com. Former Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØbasketball player Chauncey Billups (Soc ex’99), who plays for the Denver Nuggets, won the NBA’s sportsmanship award. Alan Culpepper (Geog, Soc’96), a former Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØathlete and two-time Olympian, along with Rich Castro (MPE’73) and long-time track coach Jerry Quillen, was inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame in May.
Larry Zimmer, who has called Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØfootball games on radio since 1971, received the prestigious Chris Schenkel Award. In October, Zimmer will be inducted into the Broadcast Professionals of Colorado Hall of Fame. CU’s associate athletic director Dave Plati (Jour’82) was honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America for serving 25 years as sports information director at the university.
