Matt Gelso (Finā€™10) skis along the Owl Creek Chase course between Aspen and Snowmass as a junior. He was the 2010 champion in the NCAA classical race in Steamboat Springs, Colo., in March.

The ski team finished second in the NCAA Championships for the third straight year ā€” behind the University of Denver in each case ā€” and for the ninth time in program history.

ā€œSecond place is never our goal,ā€ Ā鶹Ćā·Ń°ęĻĀŌŲhead coach Richard Rokos said after the meet the Buffs hosted in Steamboat Springs, Colo. ā€œItā€™s an honorable standing, but for us like always, the title is the goal and we invest all our resources toward achieving that goal.ā€

One skier ā€”Ā Matt GelsoĀ (Finā€™10) ā€” captured an individual NCAA title at Steamboat. He claimed victory in the Nordic 10-kilometer classical race. Only one other American-born skier in history has won the NCAA classical race ā€” Northern Michiganā€™s Christopher Cook in 2003.

Representing the Ā鶹Ćā·Ń°ęĻĀŌŲwomen, sophomoreĀ Alexa TurzianĀ placed second in the15k freestyle.
