At the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder School of Education, we are excited to welcome and announce new faculty members who bring a variety of experiences and enhance our community of educators and learners.

Finding her voice

Meet Luz Elena Sanchez, a bilingual educator who found her voice as a teacher in the community she grew up in. 

 

Overlooked for more than 100 years

Unearthing Colorado's landmark school desegregation case. Written by Professor and Bob & Judy Charles Endowed Chair Rubén Donato. 

 

Borderless roots

For the past three years, an after-school cultural mentoring program in the School of Education has paired two dozen predominately Latinx fifth graders from University Hill, a diverse bilingual elementary school, with underrepresented university students as their mentors. Together, they explore family and community histories that are often suppressed in curricula, including ties to loved ones across borders.

From fertile soil: co-creating a youth-led ethnic studies curriculum

Director and instructor of Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder’s Public Achievement program Soraya Latiff reflects on this year's student efforts to develop an ethnic studies curriculum at Centaurus High School in Lafayette. 

Giving voices to hidden stories

Jason Romero (EthStu’13, MEdu’16) partners with communities across Colorado to gather, preserve and make available information about the history and culture of local people of color through his work with the Chicano & Latino History Project.
