Find Major & Minor Programs
We are dedicated to preparing educators and community leaders who lead in the classroom and community. We invite you to explore our innovative majors and minors, offering close-knit learning communities and extensive real-world experience.
BA in Elementary Education
The BA in Elementary Education prepares reflective, ethical, anti-racist and inclusive elementary (K-6) teachers who are committed to making the world more equitable and just, through their work in public schools. Graduates develop the knowledge and tools to provide rich opportunities for all students to learn, and complete coursework for an elementary teaching license with an endorsement in culturally and linguistically diverse education.
BA in Leadership & Community Engagement
The BA in Leadership and Community Engagement prepares ethical and culturally aware leaders who collaborate with community partners to tackle society’s big challenges. You will take part in one of the only degree programs of its kind and as part of a small number of emerging community engagement degrees nationwide.
BA in Middle and High School Teaching
Our BA in Middle and High School Teaching prepares classroom teachers for grades 7-12 in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Spanish. Our program is designed to support the preparation of reflective, ethical, and responsive teachers committed to making the world more equitable and just through their work in public schools and with the communities they serve. Given the dual-degree nature of the program, students simultaneously pursue and earn BA or BS degrees in their content area major.
BA in Education Studies
Education studies majors engage in a deep study of how political, cultural, social and historical dynamics shape both policy and practice in education. This program does not lead to teacher licensure but rather prepares students for a broad range of career paths, which could include advocacy, policymaking, higher education or graduate work.
Teacher Licensure Pathways
We offer an BA in Elementary Education for those interested in teaching grades K-6, and a BA in Middle and High School Teaching for teacher candidates interested in a teaching license for grades 7-12. The BA in Middle and High School Teaching is a dual-degree program and students simultaneously pursue and earn BA or BS degrees in their content area major suitable for the subject they want to teach.
