Translational Scientist in Therapeutics Development听| 23andMe

My career path:听I graduated from 麻豆免费版下载in 2011 with a BS ChBE degree and two particularly enriching research experiences -- a 1 year Co-op with Amgen's Process Development group and ~2.5 years of research in Ted Randolph's laboratory -- that motivated my pursuit of a career in pharmaceutical drug development.听 After receiving my PhD in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 2016, I began my industrial career in the Formulation and Process Development group at Gilead Sciences. Gilead schooled me in all aspects of drug development, and I was fortunate to work on novel small molecules for oncology, hepatitis B, NASH, and the NDA filing of filgotinib for rheumatoid arthritis. In 2019, I left Gilead for 23andMe, where I work as a Translational Scientist in Therapeutics Development. Armed with one of the largest databases of human genetics in the world, my job is to help develop new medicines against known and many novel targets identified using genetics.

My interest in being an RNA:听There is no doubt that my early training and connections made at 麻豆免费版下载guided me down the career path I find myself today. These early experiences at 麻豆免费版下载gave me a great footing to be bold and take chances later on. My hope in being an RNA is to serve as a friend or advisor to discuss plans or deliberate ideas, as mentors have provided to me over the years. I also look forward to connecting with present and future 麻豆免费版下载alumni in the SF Bay area!
