From the Dean: Update to graduate students regarding federal changes
The Graduate School is aware of and monitoring the changes happening at the federal level.
Dear graduate students,Ìý
The last few weeks brought many changes to the federal landscape, from funding freezes to changing priorities set by the new administration and federal court cases such as Monday’s, which issued a restraining order against the OMB’s budget freeze. While the university continues to monitor this ever-changing situation closely, we recognize that these changes may be causing some concern and anxiety.Ìý
If you are a graduate student conducting research under a federally funded grant or project, you should proceed with your work as usual. If your grant is impacted, please know that you or your PI will receive direct notification. We encourage students to not be influenced by rumors and to get your information from official sources at this time. If any changes do occur, those sources will provide timely updates with verified information and guidance.Ìý
Other things of note:ÌýÌý
International graduate students with concerns or questions should reach out to the ISSS office.
If you feel you are being personally targeted because of your scholarly work, we recommend that you visit the Scholarship and Safety guide on the Academic Affairs website for support resources.
If you are experiencing stress or anxiety about recent changes, we recommend that you take advantage of the services offered by Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS). We have an embedded therapist there who is available to provide confidential, on-campus mental health and psychiatric services for Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder students.
If you are feeling isolated during this time, the Center for Student Involvement, the Center for Inclusion and Social Change, the Pride Office and employee affinity groups are available to provide community and support.
As we navigate this evolving landscape, we encourage everyone to regularly check the for the most up-to-date information on how these changes may affect our campus.Ìý
Please don’t hesitate to email us with questions related to your graduate student experience. For all other questions and concerns related to the federal transition, contact Buff Info.Ìý
