Ryan is currently a graduate student in the Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences department at the University of Colorado, Boulder (CU). He received his Master's degree from Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ(2016) and his undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University (2013). His research involves computational fluid dynamics, where supercomputers do most of the work. When not conducting research, Ryan can be found at a remote campsite with no internet connection or on the golf course, rarely hitting it where it should go.

Ryan studies convection and convection-driven dynamos in spherical geometries. This plot shows the latitudinal dependence of the longitudinally-averaged radial component of the magnetic field versus time, showing the presence of polarity reversals.
