Ed Greenberg was a member of the political science faculties at Stanford University (1968-1972), Indiana University (1972-1973), and the University of Colorado, Boulder (1974-2015), and a Fellow at the Rockefeller Center in Bellagio, Italy (2009). He retired from CU, Boulder in 2015 where he served as political science department chair and as a research program director and a member of the board of directors of the Institute of Behavior Science (1978-2012). He authored or co-authored 50 refereed journal articles and chapters in edited books. He authored or co-authored 10 books on a range of topics in American government and politics including inequality, black politics, political economy, and participatory workplace democracy (see Workplace Democracy (Cornell University Press) as well as one of the leading introductory textbooks on American politics, The Struggle for Democracy (Pearson Higher Ed). His research on the impact of work and the effect on workers and front-line managers of radical change in large American corporations was supported by grants from NSF and NIH totaling $3.6 million and led to many co-authored journal articles and Turbulence: Boeing and the State of American Workers and Managers (Yale University Press).
In 2024 Ed, with the assistance of his sons Joshua and Nathaniel established the Ed and Martha Greenberg Graduate Student Excellence Award, IBS' first annual scholarship.They wish to thank IBS for helping to make Ed’s long scholarly career possible as well as honor the memory of Martha Greenberg. The Fund will be used to provide an annual award for the best published article or conference paper produced by a graduate student associated with the Institute of Behavioral Science at the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ.
