AAC Assessment Additional Resources

Below are additional resources on how to use a TobiiDynavox communicator and how to use the TobiiDynavox Augmentative and Alternative Communication Needs Assessment. 

Steps to Customize Videos on TobiiDynavox Communicator 5 
**Videos should be about 10-20 seconds and saved in .mpg format**


TO ADD NEW VIDEO 

  1. Hold down the page anywhere to bring up dashboard
  2. Select 鈥淓dit Page Set鈥
  3. TO EXPAND BUTTON
    1. Hold down on an empty grid space to get red lines around it
      1. Drag corner to expand the grid size
      2. Then delete the other empty grids
        1. Hold down and select 鈥渄elete鈥
  4. TO SELECT IMAGE -> Select icon of a magnifying glass (grid must be selected)
    1. This will bring up a search window
    2. Browse (if images are on USB drive)
    3. Select 鈥渙pen鈥
  5. TO SELECT VIDEO -> Select 鈥渂utton鈥 drop-down menu (5th menu from the left)
    1. Select 鈥淰ideo鈥
    2. Browse Videos from USB drive
    3. Open
    4. Option for play just on the button or the entire screen 鈫 select ENTIRE SCREEN
    5. Make sure that 鈥淣on-selectable鈥 is NOT selected under 鈥淏utton鈥 menu
  6. SAVE 
    1. File 鈫 save
    2. OR
    3. Select image for save
    4. Select 鈥淪ave As鈥 to save onto USB Drive
  7. TO TEST VIDEO
    1. Select 鈥淰iew鈥 drop-down menu
    2. Select 鈥渞un鈥
  8.  TO DUPILICATE PAGE  
    1. Go to 鈥淧age鈥
    2. Select 鈥渄uplicate page鈥
    3. On bottom left there is an index of pages
  9. TO DUPLICATE BUTTON
    1. Select button you want to copy
    2. Select 鈥渃opy鈥
    3. Tap where you want the button to go and select 鈥減aste鈥
  10. TO LINK
    1. Select the button you want to link to get a red highlight
    2. Select 鈥渂utton actions鈥
    3. Select 鈥済o-to
    4. 鈥淎dd action鈥
    5. 鈥淕o to page鈥
    6. Select page you want to link to

This needs assessment can be completed as part of an initial AAC evaluation or as part of an on-going assessment after AAC strategies and tools have been implemented.

Note: Then needs assessment is most effective when completed by multiple members of a team - with as much inout from the individual with complex communication needs as possible.
