A Message from the Co-Chairs

Being a member of the Boulder Campus Staff Council is an opportunity to make a difference. It is an honor and a privilege to serve a part of the campus community, to help change the conversation, speak out about issues, and to bring ideas to light,Ìýall while building relationships.

The council has been advocating for staff for more than 50 years. While we are proud of our many accomplishments, we recognize that a great amount of work still needs to be done to ensure our staff feel their voices are heard and their concerns matter. We know a small group of dedicated, passionate individuals has the power to bring about change and to find workable solutions to our most difficult challenges.

A few of the issues we are focused on this year include:

  • a persistent request for aid for Dreamers and those impacted by new immigration policy;
  • improving tuition benefit assistance for staff, in particular for our front-line staff who are unable to access Continuing Education courses and find using the benefit difficult to navigate;
  • joining the many peer institutions that areÌýproviding paid parental leave benefits.

In addition, we host incredible staff appreciation events such as the annual Years of Service Awards Ceremony, the Ice Cream Social, Town Halls, and more. We support Bonfils Blood Center through our campus blood drives, and this year surpassed all prior records - not only for Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder, but for the entire Rocky Mountain region. We believe in giving back to our community, and have a proven track record of strong engagement and volunteering.

And while you may not be a member of Staff Council, you can still be involved. You can volunteer with a committee, help at one of our events, or simply show up to a meeting or town hall and have your voice heard. We encourage everyone to get involved.
