Volunteer for Fall Welcome

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer. With preparations for Fall Welcome in full swing, the new academic year will be here before we know it!

One of the great traditions at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder is our campus community coming together to support the fall semester arrival of our students and families. We have a goal of 100% volunteer participation across the Division in supporting Fall Welcome events and Move-In. As a , you would be honoring our commitment to student success; without volunteers, we would not be able to move our Freshman class into their new homes on campus. And whether students are starting or continuing their journey at Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder, it is essential that everyone feels welcomed and comfortable during this time of transition.

I’m proud there are so many Student Affairs offices responsible for planning, organizing, and hosting key Fall Welcome activities, such as:

  • Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØKickoff â€“ the Division of Student Affairs, New Student & Family Programs, and Colorado Athletics jointly host this exciting event in Folsom stadium. Attendees receive an official welcome from the Residence Hall Association, Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØStudent Government, and Student Affairs, followed by a pep rally featuring Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØcoaches and the running of Ralphie.
  • Connect at the Rec - The Recreation Center and Residence Hall Association host this event together, which features opportunities for students of all skill levels and abilities to build community with their peers while being active.
  • Taste of CU â€“ this signature event is hosted by Housing & Dining Services following Convocation. Attendees enjoy great food, live music, and an opportunity engage with others.
  • Be Involved Fair â€“ hosted by the Center for Student Involvement and Volunteer Resource Center, this event allows students to discover the organizations that make up our campus community.

The full list of our programs and events will be available soon and can be found on our.

Fall Welcome activities will take place from August 20 through September 1, and these programs would not be successful without your help. There are a variety of volunteer shifts available – help students move-in to their residence halls, assist with directions around campus or support key Fall Welcome events.

I strongly encourage you to join me in continuing our welcoming tradition by . Please work with your supervisor and plan some time to volunteer during your work day. If you have questions or would like to register your whole office or group, please contact the Volunteer Resource Center.

I would also like to thank those who have already signed up to volunteer. Your time and involvement is valued and helps make Fall Welcome a positive experience for our students and families. Please encourage your colleagues to volunteer as well, and together we will make the start of the Fall 2017 semester great!

Enjoy the rest of your summer,
Christina Gonzales
