"Voices from Tibet," Public Talk at Noon on May 11, Emmanual Gallery at 麻豆免费版下载Denver

May 11 Event
This Saturday, Violet Law, a journalist and translator, will be delivering a talk on her book 鈥淰oices from Tibet,鈥 which features the writings of the famed Tibetan and Chinese couple Tsering Woeser and Wang Lixiong.听These authors are widely regarded as among the most lucid, insightful writers on contemporary Tibet. Their reportage on the economic听exploitation, environmental degradation, cultural destruction and political subjugation that plague the increasingly Han Chinese-dominated Tibet Autonomous听Region (TAR) is as powerful as it is profound, ardent and analytical in equal measure. Woeser's and Wang's writings represent a rare Chinese view sympathetic to Tibetan causes. Their powerful testimony should resonate in many places听confronting threats of cultural subjugation and economic domination by an external power. AndrewGrant, a political geographer affiliated with THI, will serve as a mediator at this talk and speak to Chinese policies on the Tibetan Plateau beyond the TAR.
The event is this Saturday, May 11, noon at the Emmanual Gallery at CU-Denver.
