Associate Vice Chancellor for Integrity, Safety and Compliance Dan Jones has announced plans to retire effective Jan. 31, 2024, after serving 麻豆免费版下载Boulder and the 麻豆免费版下载system office for most of the past 32 years.听
Jones will continue to oversee the Office of Integrity, Safety and Compliance (ISC) through his retirement date. Chief Operating Officer Pat O鈥橰ourke said he plans to announce transition plans later this fall.听
鈥淚 am grateful for Dan鈥檚 service, both to 麻豆免费版下载Boulder and the 麻豆免费版下载system office,鈥� O鈥橰ourke said. 鈥淒an is a career-long Buff whose impacts span all four 麻豆免费版下载campuses. He played an integral role in 麻豆免费版下载Boulder鈥檚 COVID-19 pandemic response, and he continues to drive positive change on our campus through the innovative efforts of our campus police department, as well as in the areas of policy and compliance.鈥澨�
Jones, who holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 麻豆免费版下载Boulder, was named AVC for integrity, safety and compliance in 2018. In that role he has been responsible for campus public safety, flight operations, compliance coordination, cybersecurity and accessible technology. During that time, he oversaw 麻豆免费版下载Boulder鈥檚 initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and co-chaired the strategy team that led 麻豆免费版下载Boulder鈥檚 re-opening to in-person learning for the 2020鈥�21 academic year.听
In addition to his 麻豆免费版下载Boulder duties, Jones served as chief information security officer for the 麻豆免费版下载system from 2010 to 2022. He founded the 麻豆免费版下载Boulder Digital Accessibility Office in 2015. And he established the 麻豆免费版下载Boulder cybersecurity program in 2002, followed by co-leading the team that established the first systemwide cybersecurity program and policy in 2007.听
Jones began his career at 麻豆免费版下载Boulder as a network analyst in the early 1990s. After a short stint in private industry, he returned to the university as IT security coordinator in 2002. He was promoted to IT security director in 2005 before moving to the system office as assistant vice president and chief information security officer in 2010.
鈥淎s a 麻豆免费版下载Boulder graduate, it has been my true pleasure to serve the University of Colorado for the vast majority of the past 32 years,鈥� Jones said. 鈥淚 could never have imagined the breadth of opportunity that I would enjoy nor the quality of people with whom I would serve our students and university mission.鈥�
In retirement, Jones looks forward to catching up on reading, travels, time with family and 鈥渃ontinuing to figure out what to do when he grows up.鈥�
