Administrative eMemo: Update on Federal Transition Resources
Jan. 29, 2025
Dear faculty and staff,
Recent White House executive orders associated with the transition to a new federal administration have caused confusion within the University of Colorado and across the nation.
To ensure you remain aware and informed of the evolving situation, deans and other campus leaders will continue to communicate about impacts to Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder.
We recommend you bookmark the and refer to it first when seeking information about the federal transition as it relates to our campus.
Additionally, there’s a , in conjunction with the .
When new orders are issued from Washington, they are analyzed by the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØsystem office in consultation with the four chancellors and campus legal and government affairs teams as quickly as possible. As the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØsystem develops guidance, the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder Transition Advisory Committee, reporting to the chancellor, along with affected units work together to understand the impacts of the new orders and rules, which we then communicate. We expect this to continue throughout the federal government transition. Because many, if not all, of these orders will be challenged in court, we cannot predict how long we will face this fluidity.
Until further university and agency guidance is issued, all faculty and staff should continue federally funded work unless you have directly received a stop-work order, cease-and-desist or communication from the funding agency (e.g., agency memorandums, notices, etc.). These communications are being sent from the agency to the Office of Contracts and Grants and, in some cases, also to the principal investigators. If you are contacted directly, ensure that the is included on the communication and visit for guidance on next steps.
Graduate students seeking advice should consult with their principal investigators and the Graduate School with any questions. Undergraduate students seeking clarity should consult the Office of the Dean of Students and the Office of Undergraduate Education.
