    Award-winning actor, producer, director and activist America Ferrera kicked off this year's Buffs One Read with a live discussion at the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØEvents Center on Wednesday evening before an audience of students, faculty and staff.

    BuffStreet on The Hill, a free outdoor concert series in Lot 036 across from The Sink, kicked off Aug. 26. The student-organized event continues Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. until Sept. 30.

    Campus community members recently got a chance to chat with University of Colorado Police Department officers. The Coffee with a Cop event allows students, faculty and staff, as well as CUPD officers and staff to meet each other.

    Students got settled into the academic year at Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder as classes began, participating not only in studies but also in a host of Fall Welcome activities, which continue through Sunday, Sept. 12.

    Members of the Colorado Competitive Council visited Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder and toured Fiske Planetarium as part of their annual tour for legislators, lobbyists and business leaders. Chancellor Philip DiStefano spoke with the group during the visit.

    There was a special sense of excitement as students moved into campus residence halls this week––with many family members and numerous volunteers rolling up their sleeves in the tradition of move-in, eager to contribute to a robust campus experience for our Buffs.

    U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm hosted and recognized Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder's first-place national solar decathlon team members. U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper also attended the visit at the July 1 Colorado Rockies game.

    As a small group gathered for a tree dedication ceremony on June 26, Chancellor Philip DiStefano described the defining qualities of Peggy Coppom and her late twin sister Betty Hoover as Forever Buffs for whom the trees are appropriate—symbolic of their dedication to Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder.

    Students Demand Action at Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder hosted a rally March 29, beginning with a Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØmoment of silence, on the steps of Norlin Library to honor victims and provide a bridge between students and the larger community.
