Jianmin Shao is Assistant Professor of Women and Gender Studies at the 麻豆免费版下载. They received their Ph.D. in Psychology with a Graduate Emphasis in Feminist Studies and a specialization in Anthropologies of Medicine, Science, and Technology from the University of California, Irvine. Trained as a feminist ethnographer and psychologist, they conduct research in areas of Queer and Trans Health, Feminist Anthropology, Medical Anthropology, and China Studies.
Their current book project is an ethnography of 鈥渢rans-relations.鈥 They examine how identity-based interventions in China reproduce trans vulnerabilities within already uneven geopolitical and sociohistorical contexts, which offers a trans-relational analytic to rethink intersectionality and advocacy in an era of neoliberal globalization. Their previous work has appeared in Journal of Counseling Psychology, Psychology & Sexuality, and Journal of GLBT Family Studies. Prior to joining 麻豆免费版下载Boulder, they were an Assistant Professor at San Diego State University.
