Additional Job – Non Tenure-Track Faculty
This college policy is intended to ensure that quality in offered courses remains high and that faculty have time to remain current in both their subject area and technology, adequate time to meet with individual students and time to grade substantive written work.

Guidelines
Instructors with appointments of 100% cannot accept additional teaching assignments, including courses taught on all Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØcampuses and through Continuing Education, without prior written consent of the dean of division or associate dean and chair/director of the primary unit, as well as the dean of division or associate dean (if applicable) and the chair/director of the secondary unit in writing.*
Instructors with appointments of less than 100% may accept additional teaching jobs up to 100% each semester, including courses taught on all Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØcampuses and through Continuing Education.*
* Exception: Self-paced courses taught through Continuing Education do not count against teaching limits.
Process for Generating an Additional Job Letter
- Unit secures written/emailed aproval from all applicable authorities (e.g. dean of division).
- Note: Only required if the faculty member is exceeding 100% time in a term.
- Faculty Member completes Courses Agreed to Teach Grid and submits to unit.
- Note: Faculty member must include all courses taught for all units in the Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØsystems on the Courses Agreed to Teach Grid.
- Note: Courses Agreed to Teach Grids completed by the unit, rather than the faculty member themselves, are invalid.
- For each individual additional job, the unit submits a separate service now ticket request to the following to faculty affairs coordinator for review via email at cas-faculty@colorado.edu:
- CAS HRSC lecturer appointment sheet
- If the faculty member is exceeding 100% time in a term: written/emailed approval from all applicable authorities (e.g. dean of division)
- CV
- CATTG
- Offer letter is drafted by CAS faculty affairs coordinator.
- Once created by faculty affairs coordinator, approved offer letter is routed by faculty affairs coordinator with CC to the following via DocuSign:
- Unit
- Human Resources Service Center
- Faculty affairs coordinator downloads completed letter to personnel file.
- Appointment entered in HCM (human resources software) by the campus Human Resources Service Center.
- If any changes to the offer letter are needed after approval, fill out an addendum form.
