For students looking for a community of sustainability-minded peers, you now have two options offered at CU-Boulder through the Center for Education on Social Responsibility (CESR) and Leeds School of Business.
Net Impact Undergraduate Chapter
The Net Impact Undergraduate Chapter is student run with guidance from the Center for Education on Social Responsibility (CESR) at the Leeds School of Business, with CESR Instructor Don Oest as faculty advisorÌýand the Net Impact Graduate Chapter. This new club provides members with skills, connections and experiences to create lasting impacts on themselves, business and the world. It provides great networking opportunities as well as inspiration for emerging leaders to make positive changes in society.
Open to all CU-Boulder majors, the club will begin recruiting this fall 2016.
Net Impact is a nationwide organization that encourages students and young professionals to transform their passions into world changing action and has a strong focus on creating a more sustainable future. Currently, their focus is fighting environmental issues facing the world such as water scarcity, energy efficiency and resource depletion, to name a few.
CESR Fellows
There’s also CESR Fellows, a student group developed by and for CSR-minded Leeds business students. The group embraces using business to make a positive social and environmental impact, and focuses on self-exploration of personal values and learning to implement those values into daily challenges, especially within a business career.Ìý
Group Leadership
These two groups currently operate under the same leadership but will diverge into separate entities in the fall once Net Impact gains a membership base; however, Fiona Murphy, Net Impact President and Sierra Stein, CESR Fellow’s VP of Committees will maintain their roles as board members. The two organizations will maintain close ties in the future and continue to support each other in events and membership recruitment.
This past April, the current CESR Fellows board elected eight new board members to transition into the upcoming year. The past few weeks have been spent transitioning the boards and implementing goals for the upcoming year. The following is a list of the new board members, the year they will be entering, and their new position on the CESR Fellows Board:
