Internships and Micro-Internships

Internships

An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. It gives students the opportunity for career exploration and skills development. And it gives employers the opportunity to bring new ideas and energy into the workplace, develop talent, and build a pipeline for future full-time employees. Most internships are paid and offered over the summer or an academic semester.

Micro-Internships

Micro-internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that enable students to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build their network. Companies gain immediate support on quick-turnaround projects in sales, marketing, technology, HR, finance and other areas. Unlike traditional internships, micro-internships take place year-round, typically range from five to 40 hours of work, and are completed between one week and one month after kick-off. All micro-internships are paid.
