The Center seeks student employees who are interested in Native American and Indigenous Studies and supporting CNAIS programming on campus. Student Assistant IV - Paraprofessional: Student Program Coordinator

Job Summary:Ìý

CNAIS seeks one dedicated student employee for the Spring 2025 semester to assist in program coordination, event planning, and project development. This role is ideal for full-time graduate students with an interest in Native American and Indigenous Studies and a passion for community-building.

Employment Term: January 13 – May 02, 2025
Hours: 10–15 hours per week
Pay: $30–$35 per hour
Modality: Hybrid Remote/In-Person (minimum of two shifts required at the CNAIS Office)

Responsibilities:
  1. Event Coordination and Support:
    • Assist with administrative tasks for CNAIS events, including email communication, run-of-day agendas, and material preparation.
    • Provide on-site event support, including tracking attendance data, taking photos, answering logistical questions, and assisting with setup/takedown.
    • Lead the planning and execution of one CNAIS event, including concept development, budgeting, fundraising, booking, catering, marketing, facilitation, and post-event reflection.
  2. Project Development:
    • Conduct targeted research to support CNAIS projects.
    • Attend meetings with project partners and draft content for the CNAIS website as needed.
  3. Content Creation:
    • Assist with writing and publishing articles for the CNAIS website and newsletter.
    • Identify relevant stories to highlight CNAIS programming and initiatives.
  4. Administrative Support:
    • Attend pertinent meetings, including monthly team meetings, weekly 1:1 check-ins with the Office Manager, and other meetings as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required

  • Must be a full-time graduate student with a degree, coursework or research experience related to Native American and Indigenous Studies
  • Clear ability to work collaboratively with both a team and independently in a hybrid work environment
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred

  • Familiarity with event planning, project management, and content creation
  • Proficient or Advanced in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, WebEx, and Qualtrics
  • Experience working closely and being in community with Native American and Indigenous peoples
