Risky sexual behavior is typically considered an externalizing trait. Katie's paper has demonstrated that there is also an internalizing pathway to risky sexual behavior that has been Ìýunderstudied.

Risky Sexual Behavior (RSB) is typically considered an externalizing trait. In this paper we use Colorado and Minnesota twin samples to show that RSB is also associated with internalizing traits. This internalizing pathway may be stronger in females than males but there was insufficient power to support this hypothesis.

This was Kyle Kent's undergraduate honors thesis. Although the analysis did not support his hypothesis it was a great idea and an ambitious project for an undergraduate. Kyle hypothesized that some of the effects of early childhood trauma on adult mental health would be mediated through changes in executive function. It is likely that the CADD measures available to him were largely responsible for the null findings.
