Scholarships and Awards

Fred Murphy Award

Purpose: To recognize outstanding academic achievement (at least a 3.3 GPA) and extra-curricular and/or community service by a graduating senior in the Integrative Physiology Department.

The award's namesake, Professor Fred Murphy, was a faculty member in the department for 29 years. He was known for his athletic, academic, and musical talents and for his caring, nurturing attitude toward undergraduate students. He will always be remembered as a true gentleman who was a fine teacher and one who thought the student should be the focus of education.

The recipient will receive a cash award of $500.00 and a commemorative plaque.

Application Information: To apply for the award, submit one letter of recommendation from faculty or other individual who is familiar with your work or service, and a short essay which describes your goals, achievements, and contributions to the University, department, and/or community.

Applications are typically due in April, so watch for announcements. For additional information about the Fred Murphy Award, contact the IPHY Department.
