Inclusive Research Mentoring Micro-Credential
The Inclusive Research Mentoring (IRM) micro-credential, offered by the Center for Teaching & Learning and the Graduate School, equips graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff with skills to mentor in research settings. Based on the curriculum, the program includes:
- Mentor Self-Assessment
- Reflect on personal mentoring practices to identify strengths and growth areas.
- CIMER-Based Training Workshops
- Participate in eight interactive workshops (12 hours) to build and refine mentoring skills.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Workshops
- Attend three DEI workshops through CTL, Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØDialogues, or other campus resources to integrate inclusive practices into mentoring.
- Post-Program Self-Reflection
- Reflect on your journey to assess growth and identify next steps for continued mentorship development.
- Optional Opportunities for Faculty
- External mentor assessments.
- Develop advising agreements tailored to your mentoring approach.
- Additional Participation Opportunities
- Join a campus mentoring initiative to expand your impact and network.

Tasks to Completion:
- Participate in all eight of the CIMER based training modules offered jointly by the Center for Teaching & Learning and the graduate school.

- Participate in Three DEI-Focused or Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØDialogues Workshops
- These can be fulfilled by multiple campus offerings, including those from the Graduate School, CTL, ODECE, OVA, OIEC, CISC, or outside organizations, including CIRTL.

- Faculty to Develop Advising Agreements with Mentees
- All mentors will be required to develop mentor agreements with at least one of their mentors, with support from CTL or grad school teachers.

- Grad students to participate in an official campus mentorship program or participate in a community mentorship program. Provide proof/documentation that you have met or communicated with your mentee a minimum of six times per academic year.
