Professional Master's in Computer Science
A course-based master's option for working professionals.
Our professional master’s programs are tailored for those looking to advance their careers by furthering their computer science knowledge and skillset. You can pursue a general course track or choose from one of eight sub-plans to specialize in a specific field, such as robotics, data science and engineering, or human-centered computing. Please note that more research opportunities are available for traditional MS students, and professional MS students are not eligible for part-time instructor positions, teaching assistantships or research assistantships — only hourly appointments.Ìý
Curriculum & Requirements
During your first semester, you will work closely with your advisor to develop a plan of study that meets your professional goals. Whether you choose the general track or a sub-plan option, you will then complete 30 hours of coursework, including at least nine hours of breadth classes. If you choose a sub-plan option, you will complete fourÌýcourses within your area of specialization.
General Track
Complete 30 credits of course hours, according to the course requirements listed below. The following rules apply:Ìý
- You must earn a B or better grade in three breadth courses.
- Your remaining sevenÌýcourses can be any approved graduate courses.
- You may take up to two non-CS approved classes.
